Authority over Spirits - Sermon One
Luke 10:19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes
and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your
names are written in heaven.“

1. Part of what we are
Numbers 27:15 Let the LORD, the God of the
spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul,
and with all thy might.
2. Men that use evil spirits
Leviticus 19:31 “Do not defile
yourselves by turning to mediums or to those who consult the
spirits of the dead. I am the LORD your God.
B. Angels Psalm
104:4 Who makes His angels spirits, His ministers a flame of fire.
1. Quantity
Daniel 7:10 A river of fire was
flowing, coming out from before him. Thousands upon
thousands attended him; ten thousand times ten thousand
stood before him. The court was seated, and the books were
opened
Revelation 5:11 Then I looked and heard
the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon
thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They
encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders

Jude 1:9 But even the archangel
Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body
of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation
against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!"
3. Various Orders
a. Messenger
Luke 1:26-28 In the sixth month, God
sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to
a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a
descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. 28 The
angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly
favored! The Lord is with you.”
Daniel 8:16 And I heard the voice of a
man between the banks of Ulai, and he called out and
said, “Gabriel, give this man an understanding of the
vision.”
b. Warring
Daniel 10:13 But the prince of the
kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo,
Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I
remained there with the kings of Persia
Revelation 12:7-9 And there was war in
heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon,
and the dragon and his angels fought back. 8 But he was not
strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9 The
great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called
the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He
was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
c. Guardian
Exodus 25:18-22 And make two cherubim
out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. 19 Make one
cherub on one end and the second cherub on the other; make
the cherubim of one piece with the cover, at the two ends.
20 The cherubim are to have their wings spread upward,
overshadowing the cover with them. The cherubim are to face
each other, looking toward the cover. 21 Place the cover on
top of the ark and put in the ark the Testimony, which I
will give you.
Matthew 18:10 “See that you do not
despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that
their angels in heaven continually see the face of My Father
who is in heaven
d. Worshipping
Luke 2:13 And suddenly there appeared
with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God
and saying,
Ezekiel 28:13 “You were in Eden, the
garden of God;
Every precious stone was your covering: The ruby, the topaz
and the diamond; The beryl, the onyx and the jasper; The
lapis lazuli, the turquoise and the emerald;
And the gold, the workmanship of your settings and sockets,
Was in you. On the day that you were created
They were prepared.
